One Turn at a Time

I have decided that I am stripping myself down to who God created me to be.

I do not have to know every detail anymore. I just have to take the next step and be faithful with it.

Today brought back a memory I haven’t thought about in a long time.

When I was a little girl, my mother would tell me that people would say to her,

“When Julie walks into a room, it lights up.”

I never really knew why.

Maybe it was just my strawberry-blonde hair catching the light, but whatever it was, it made me smile.

Somewhere along the way, though, I started to feel as if I had lost whatever that was.

For a long time, I didn’t really care to understand it because it didn’t seem to matter. But lately, I’ve started to wonder if I lost it after all.

Maybe life just covered it up with its decisions and mistakes.

Now it feels like God is bringing it back, little by little.

It reminds me of turning a light bulb until it finally makes contact and begins to shine.

That’s what this season has felt like for me. I don’t want people to notice me. I want whatever God placed in me to be used for Him.

God made each of us differently, and I don’t want to keep setting aside what He placed in me.

I want the difference He gave me to make a difference in someone else’s life.

We’re not here only for ourselves. Sometimes the work God is doing in us becomes part of someone else’s story too.

So I’ll keep walking, one step at a time, and let Him decide where it leads. I just have to learn the lessons along the way.

So walk with me as we go through this, one turn at a time.
